The forest of Aokigahara, in Japan, is famous for its high number of suicides (about a hundred each year). When Yasujiro, a taciturn and haggard guide, agrees to lead four American YouTubers into the heart of the forest, he has no idea that the unthinkable will happen. In search of sensationalism, the young people will stumble upon the corpse of a young Japanese man who has been hanged. Excited by their discovery, they will film the suicide from all angles. Witnessing this crude staging, Yasujiro remains stunned. At the same time, overwhelmed and exasperated, the spirits wake up…
About
This short film in development will mark the first collaboration between Block 8 and director Julie Rohart. The film is inspired by an infamous video of YouTuber Logan Paul, who caused controversy by filming himself laughing at the body of a suicide victim in Japan.
